Reviews
It was the best so far, we have stayed and visited couple of castle hotels in Sweden. We got a surprise upgraded room called Suite Victory which had perfect charm of Swedish antique luxury and French architecture and we had a private bubble bath and sauna. There is also access to Spa with outdoor hot water tubs with drinks and snacks. We had full snow on that day and we did a winter dip in ice cold water and then into the hot tub with drinks, one of a kind experience. The facility was top notch and clean. We are still in the hangover.
Good for business conferences with lots of meeting rooms and dinning spaces. The food was so tasty and exotic and most was locally produced. They have their locally and indigenous products for soaps , baking item and has rich history of metal works.
So I came to this restaurant several days ago, with my girlfriend to have some lunch and enjoy beautiful surroundings of the Kingdom of Sweden. Considering the fact that both of us are vegans, we ordered some salad. The order was brought swiftly, yet not without the flaws; there was a hair in my dish of which I immediately demanded to see the cook. So, what happened next, their chef (some nasty short stature guy with lots of tatoos) came to the dining room and started to explain himself in what seemed to me to be a mixture of the eastern language. 'Da ia tibe etot salad zasunu v jopu, mudak', he said. Probably he was apologizing for his bad service. What a man!
I wanted to rate this restaurant with an A, however, I found out that the cook makes salads by flattening the ingredients with his armpits. That's gross! Can't recommend this place to anybody!
Had lunch at excellent value and tasting great. As we were celebrating an anniversary the staff had arranged flowers on our table especially for us exactly the way I wanted it.
We stayed in a different part from the main building, where the rooms were at a hostel-level and quite strangely decorated, with an out-of-date feeling. The main building is very nice, and the rooms there gorgeous. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
I have ordered murkelrisotto. I haven’t tasted anything worse than it . There was no truffle taste at all. I have asked to make another one, but they refused saying that everything is fine. Haven’t experienced such a bad service.
Had a one night stay in a room in the mansion building.
My room was big and nice with a good atmosphere but the bath room was quite cramped, but sufficient. The bed was a bit harder than what I usually prefer but it was still quite alright.
For dinner we had the traditional Swedish Christmas Table which is a buffet of different Christmas foods, both cold and hot dishes. The dishes was in general good and I found the mustard pickled herring to be exceptionally delicious. For lunch the next day I had boiled cod with capers and pressed potatoes and a green salad. This dish was well prepared and was very tasty.
Do not bring dogs!!
Thought we booked a 4 star spa hotel, but the room was not even holding 1 star standard.
The hotel is advertising a "pet friendly" hotel, and we paid an extra fee when we brought our dog.
The pet friendly room held the original standard of servant housing, with an old wall-to-wall carpet and a bathroom of approximately 2sq m.
The room standard was so bad that we kept our time inside the room to the bare minimum.
A huge disapointment, will not recommend this to anyone with pets.
The other rooms were very beautiful and inviting.
As we say in Swedish nja!
Room: quiet and very good beds, a bit walking to the breakfast, but weather was good so no problem.
Breakfast: coffee machine from 10-15 years ago, take it away, and serve ‘bryggkaffe’ instead. Bread was ok, but dry. The whole breakfast feels like a Scandic one, maybe only Swedes understand that. But a medium breakfast don’t get 4 star just because you put a sparkling wine there.
Location: beautiful direct next to a lake.
Spa: this is the best asset of the hotel, vary nice built direct at the lake, open late. But bar close at 18.00, why ???
Restaurant: did not use, but it has a reputation to be very good.
Checkin/out: ok and fast.
Service: room clean, staff could get more friendlier. Ex you don argue with guests when they ask stuff.
